William Hill Expands Sports Betting Presence in Iowa

William Hill US, the well-known UK-Based betting company’s American Division, has expanded their sports betting presence in Iowa State by opening two new sportsbook offerings in the state. The two new venues are situated in Council Bluffs and both Harrah’s and Horseshoe can offer retail and mobile wagering. This comes just a few days after William Hill made headlines for opening its sportsbook offerings in Pennsylvania and Michigan states. The launch of the two new offers in Iowa is a result of the partnership between William Hill and Caesars Entertainment Corporation.

The New Sports Wagering Venues

In July this year, Eldorado Resorts acquired the massive gaming brand, Caesars Entertainment, through a reverse merger that was worth $17,3 billion. The merger saw the extension of the existing deal between William Hill and Eldorado Resorts extended towards Caesars Entertainment. William Hill and Caesars have been operating as a joint-venture since the reverse merger in many states. In September this year, Caesars announced that they would be acquiring William Hill at the cost of $3,69 billion. The mergers, acquisitions, and deals have led William Hill to its position of being able to extend its presence in Iowa opening new retail sportsbook venues for sports fans.

The new sportsbook offerings are located in Council Bluff’s, Iowa at the Horseshoe and Harrah’s. Council Bluffs can now offer sports bettors in Iowa a full-service sportsbook as well as self-service kiosks. The Horseshoe venue has taken on William Hill’s full-service offering and boasts five ticket windows and four self-service kiosks. Harrah’s, which is located in the city, has agreed to house two William Hill-branded self-service kiosks on their premises. Sports fans are invited to place wagers at the kiosks, ticket windows, or register for mobile access to the William Hill Sportsbook application. Just last week the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission gave William Hill approval to conduct mobile business as well as outlined the process.

Process of Mobile Access in Iowa

Although Mobile access has been granted to the sportsbook and sports fans in the area, the act is still monitored very strictly and is subject to in-person registration. This means that players first need to sign up at a retail sportsbook facility before they can place wagers from the comfort of their homes.

Other states, such as Illinois, have been making headlines recently for the legislature that has allowed bettors to register via their mobile devices. However, Iowa has shown no signs of allowing mobile registrations to occur but has instead, incentivized in-person registrations to make the act more appealing for sports fans. The process in Iowa is straightforward. After players sign up, they need to deposit at the retail venue. Only once the deposit has been processed completely will the player be allowed to use their account. Once the account is active, players will be able to make deposits or place wagers from anywhere in Iowa State via the mobile application that is available in Android and iOS formats.

Players who sign up and make their first deposit at a retail sportsbook are eligible for a risk-free bet to the value of up to $300.

William Hill’s Other Gains

Experts have suggested that William Hill is ensuring their house is in order and that the purchase will be a valuable one for Caesars next year. This can be seen in the many moves that William Hill has made to expand into new and different states. Just last week William Hill announced the opening of the brand’s Sportsbook at Farrah’s Philadelphia which is in Pennsylvania. The sportsbook at Farrah’s Philadelphia was also completed in conjunction with Caesars and boasts a premium facility.

William Hill also launched a new sportsbook in Michigan at the Turtle Creek Casino. William Hill and the Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos worked together to make the new facility a reality. The venue, which is called Onyx Sportsbook by William Hill, offers players a classy, premium, and varied sports betting experience. It is unsure whether William Hill will be partnering with any other local brands in Iowa to make another venue like Onyx possible but in the meantime, players can still get the premium odds on the sportsbook application.
