Making a post to talk about the upcoming g tournament this weekend because the thread doesn’t pop up until Wednesday or Thursday.
I see a ton of value with Reed at +3275. Defending champion, seems to rise to the occasion on these stacked field type tournies. He is a shorter hitter but iron game is up to par and short game maybe best in the field. Love him at this price.
Other outrights I am targeting:
Cam Smith +6600. Ranks 3 in SG around green the past 24 rounds. Also 4th in SG on par 5s. He can move it and he’s also no slouch on the putting surface. He showed he can play on tough courses being the first player to shoot 4 consecutive rounds in the 60s at Augusta.
John Rahm +850. 5th in SG on Nicklaus courses past 24 rds. First in SG par 5s past 24. 4th in SG approach shots. He’s not missed the top 20 since the open 2 years ago. He’s not missed the top 7 in like the past 7 or 8. He’s in great form and the world number two I feel is going to come into his stride leading into the masters.
Patrick Cantlay +1400. Leads the field in SG last 24 RDs on Nicklaus courses. Also his form is great right now.
First round leader value plays I like:
Reed +5000: Best first round scoring average on tour. Same reasons as stated above.
Kisner +6600. Number one in SG putting on Bermuda grass by a margin of like 3 strokes compared to second. If he has a day where his iron play is on I could see him going low.
Would love to heard any disagreements or picks you like and why.
