Veronica D. Kohut (“Ronnie”)

Ronnie D. Kohut
Veronica D. “Ronnie” Kohut, 90, Farrell, left this earthly world on March 12, 2021, at Clepper Manor, Sharon, to be united with her devoted husband, Charles “Chas” Kohut, who predeceased her on Dec. 16, 2013.
Veronica was loved by all who knew her, especially her family, who will miss her terribly but will take comfort in the many happy memories she left for them.
She will also be missed by her granddog, a Golden Retriever named Toby. Toby had the unique distinction of being the first dog to ever be permitted on her furniture and to be allowed to give her endless kisses. When visiting her at Clepper Manor, he would come in the door, go straight to her room and jump on the bed to lie beside her. They had a special bond and he always made her feel secure and comforted.
Veronica was born June 13, 1930, in Donora, Pa. to Joseph and Anna Thomas. She left Donora as a young girl to work at Slates Hotel in Farrell and while working every morning and evening she was still able to earn her high school diploma from Farrell High School, class of 1948, a proud accomplishment.
Veronica married Chas on April 30, 1949, in Farrell, where they made their home for the remainder of their lives together.
In the early days she worked at Packard Electric, Frances Coffee Shop and Farrell Terrace Dairy.
She was a member of the St. Ann’s Altar Society and was a very active member of the former St. Ann’s Catholic Church helping with fundraising efforts for the church and school. She was currently a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Farrell.
A fantastic cook and baker, you could always count on Ronnie to show up with her famous poppyseed cake. Sunday and holiday meals at Grandma Kohut’s house were always a special occasion.
Ronnie loved going to Friday Night bingo at American Legion in Farrell for many years and was always up for a trip to the casino.
Veronica was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary, and brothers Mike, Joe and most recently her brother John Thomas of Missouri, whom she was very close to.
Veronica is survived by her children, Charles “Chuck” Kohut and his wife Marti, Hermitage; her daughter, Kimberly Klein and her husband Mike, Rowlette, Texas; her sister-in-law, Helen Kohut, Sharon; her grandchildren Casey (Angela) Kohut, Painesville, Ohio, Kyle (Elizabeth) Kohut, Hermitage, James (Michelle) McWilliams, Jacey McWilliams and her fiancé Dom Destasio, Navy CPO Joshua McWillams (Eri) Jacksonville, Fla., Mike (Michelle) Klein, San Antonia, Texas, Jonathan Klein, San Antonio, Texas; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who she loved very much.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. June Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959
