The next installment of the UFC fight night event has another excellent set of matchups to watch. One particularly interesting fight to watch is in the prelims – a heavyweight battle between Alexandr Romanov and Marcos Rogerio de Lima.
Date: Sat, Nov 7, 6:00 PM
Venue: UFC APEX
Watch on: ESPN+
Alexandr “King Kong” Romanov (12-0-0)
Romanov is currently undefeated heading into this fight. His most recent victory was in September when he defeated Roque Martinez by submission.
His fighting resume shows that he has five wins by knockout and seven by submission. Out of those 12 bouts, nine of them have been won in the first round, with a combination of both knockouts and submissions.
This will be Romanov’s second UFC bout. His first one went quite well, with him landing 55 strikes versus absorbing just seven. He also landed four successful takedowns, and the fight ultimately ended in a submission.
Not only is he a capable striker, but “King Kong” is quite aggressive in his approach to the ground game. As you can see by his resume, he can perform well on both stand-up and ground work.
Marcos Rogério “Pezão” de Lima (17-7-1)
De Lima is coming off a first-round TKO finish back in February against Ben Sosoli. He was coming off nearly a year since his last bout in that fight and looked much better in his return.
His fighting resume shows that he has 12 wins by knockout, three by submission, and two by decision. Out of his 17 wins, he has 13 of them ending within the first round, with multiple knockouts and submissions to his credit.
“Pezão” has a striking accuracy at 54 percent and a grappling accuracy at 60 percent. He lands 3.78 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 2.63. This is an excellent ratio that shows he defends well and delivers effectively on his strikes.
De Lima has a takedown defense at 36 percent and a significant strike defense at 54 percent. He also averages 0.76 takedowns and 0.80 submissions every 15 minutes.

As this fight reaches closer to the date, Romanov’s odds have been somewhat shrinking, as de Lima is gaining traction. Can this be justified?
De Lima has a lot of experience fighting in the tough competition that the UFC provides. However, his last three losses have all come by submissions over recent years, and this could be another one of those fights.
Romanov has a significant advantage here simply because he is aggressive at takedowns, and de Lima does not defend well against them. Look for Romanov to use his grappling ability to take this fight to the ground early.
Spooky Express Free Pick: Romanov wins via submission, at -300.
