With the return of another UFC fight night, the prelims should not disappoint with the quality matchup that awaits. One fight to take a look at is the lightweight battle between Mike Davis and Mason Jones.
Date:Wed, Jan 20, 8:00 AM
Mike Davis (8-2-0)
Davis returns to the octagon after a knockout victory against Thomas Gifford back in October of 2019. This win helped him get back on track after losing against Gilbert Burns in the previous matchup.
His fighting resume shows that he has seven wins by knockout and one by submission. Out of his eight victories, he has four of them resulting in first round finishes.
“Beast Boy” has a striking accuracy at 54 percent and a grappling accuracy at 33 percent. He lands 5.87 significant strikes a minute while absorbing 6.36. This ratio is on the negative side and also a little higher in volume.
Davis has a takedown defense at 66 percent and a significant strike defense at 54 percent. He also averages 0.77 takedowns per 15 minutes of fight time.
Mason Jones (10-0-0)
Jones will be testing out his undefeated professional streak in the UFC. He will be making his debut in this matchup.
His fighting resume shows that he has four wins by knockout, three by submission, and three by decision. In his 10 fights so far, he also has managed to have four of them result in first round finishes with a combination of knockouts and submissions.
Jones has been impressive, especially showing off in Cage Warriors. There, he was able to win two championships at vacant 155 and 170 pound titles.
“The Dragon” has a lot of potential on his plate. After winning both belts, he placed on a list as one of the few fighters to hold two Cage Warriors titles simultaneously. The last person to do this was Conor McGregor.

Fans are excited at the arrival of Mason Jones as he moves on from Cage Warriors. This matchup should prove to be a great one as Davis is looking to climb too.
Jones has put forth some solid performances so far in the UFC. However, his significant strike ratio is somewhat concerning especially if he cannot defend well.
Davis is not an immediate knockout threat, but he definitely has what it takes to catch people not defending well. This could set up a recipe for disaster for Jones.
Overall, the hype for Jones could prove to be real, especially when people are comparing him to Conor McGregor. This will be a solid first test for Jones and he should be able to prevail here.
