TNF Odds Taken Down As 49ers Shut Down Facility Due To COVID Case

  • The San Fransisco 49ers are closing their facility a day before their scheduled Thursday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers due to a positive COVID-19 test
  • WR Kendrick Bourne is the one to test positive and contact tracing for the team will now be down to see who was a close contact.
  • The Packers already had players sitting out from this game because of positive COVID-19 tests.

SAN FRANSICO – The San Fransico 49ers have closed their facility following a COVID-19 positive test reported only one day before their Week 9 matchup.

The team confirmed the reports that wide receiver Kendrick Bourne has tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday morning.

The news leaves the 49ers having to conduct practice virtually right ahead of their scheduled Thursday Night Football (TNF) game against the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers running back AJ Dillion tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday while running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin were labeled “high-risk close contacts” according to NFL rules. All three players were already reported to be out for the game on Thursday.

Currently, The TNF game has not yet been canceled while the 49ers undergo contact tracing and other COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of the players.

However, oddsmakers have taken down their Thursday Night Football betting lines until more can be confirmed. The Packers were coming into the game with a -5.5 point spread and were the odds on favorite to win at -250 on the moneyline. Those odds are likely to change if the game is postponed like others have been this season.

The NFL has previously rescheduled the matchup between the Tennessee Titans and the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with the New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos game. The NFL has not been shy in delaying games due to positive COVID-19 cases.

“The health and safety of our players, staff and community are the organization’s highest priority,” said the 49ers in a statement. “We will continue to work closely with the NFL and medical professionals and will follow their direction.”

At the start of the season, games were multiple games rescheduled when positive test results came from both teams but as the season has continued the league has put more protocols in places that have prevented of rescheduling of games.

Legal sports bettors will be interested in seeing if the battle between the 5-2 Packers and 4-4 49ers will happen on Thursday due to this news.
