The $80,000 Miner’s Mark Stakes will run as Race 4 on the Sept. 18 card at Belmont Park.
The event for 3-year-olds and up will cover 1 1/2 miles and include names like Rocketry and You’re to Blame among the field of five.
Here is a look at the top entrants set for the Miner’s Mark Stakes.
Rocketry, You’re to Blame
One of the biggest names coming into the event is Centennial Farms’ Rocketry. The 6-year-old son of Hard Spun is trained by James A. Jerkens.
He has a career record of 5-5-4 from 24 starts and earnings of $660,110. In 2020, he has one third-place finish from two outings.
That third-place run came last time out in the Aug. 2 Birdstone Stakes at Saratoga, where he registered a 102 Speed Figure. Prior to that, he finished fourth in the June 11 Flat Out Stakes at Belmont Park.
Rocketry will break from post 4 under jockey Junior Alvarado.
Another top runner among the field is Bortolazzo Stable’s You’re to Blame. The 6-year-old son of Distorted Humor is trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher.
He is 7-6-4 from 29 career starts and has earnings of $690,378. His 2020 performances include one second-place finish from four starts.
That runner-up effort came in the Aug. 2 Birdstone Stakes at Saratoga, where he registered a 102 Speed Figure. He also finished fifth in the June 11 Flat Out Stakes at Belmont, fourth in the May 17 Sunday Silence Stakes (Black Type) at Gulfstream Park and sixth in the March 28 Hal’s Hope Stakes (G3) also at Gulfstream.
You’re to Blame will break from post 1 under John R. Velazquez.
