The Laurel Futurity Preview and Free Betting Pick – Saturday, October 3, 2020

The $150,000 Laurel Futurity will run as Race 8 on the Oct. 3 card at Pimlico.

The event for 2-year-olds will cover 1 1/16 miles on turf and include names like Pivotal Mission and Hidden Enemy among the field of 10.

Here is a look at the top runners set for the Laurel Futurity.

Pivotal Mission, Hidden Enemy

The morning-line favorite coming in at 3/1 is Albert Frassetto’s Pivotal Mission. The Noble Mission colt is trained by H. Graham Motion.

He has a career record of 0-1-1 from three starts and earnings of $106,072.

The colt’s performances include a runner-up effort last time out in the Sept. 7 More Than Ready Juvenile Stakes (Black Type) at Kentucky Downs. He also finished third in an Aug. 8 maiden special weight race and sixth in a July 18 maiden special weight race on debut July 18, both at Saratoga.

Pivotal Mission will break from post 1 under jockey John Velazquez.

He will be up against L and N Racing’s Hidden Enemy, who is coming in as the 4/1 second choice. The son of Galileo is trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen.

He is 0-1-0 from two starts and has earnings of $18,720.

The second-place finish came last time out in a Sept. 5 maiden special weight race at Saratoga, where he registered a 91 Speed Figure. That followed a fourth-place finish in an Aug. 8 maiden special weight race also at the track.

Hidden Enemy will break from post 8 under Joel Rosario.

Wootton Asset

Another runner to pay attention to is Madaket Stables’ Wootton Asset. The son of Wootton Bassett is trained by H. Graham Motion.

The colt has two wins from four career starts and earnings of $34,120.

His most-recent performance was a fifth-place run in the Aug. 22 Criterium du Fonds European de L’Elevage in Deauville. His two victories include a June 15 allowance race at Le Lion D’angers and a May 25 maiden race at Lyon-parilly.
Wootton Asset will break from post 3 under rider Hector Rafael Diaz, Jr. in what will be the colt’s first start in the United States.
