I posted on the horse racing weekly subreddit, but happy to discuss here.
For the Everest, I am backing primarily Nature Strip. He simply is the best horse in the race on his day and I think Waller’s other runner Haut Brion Her will be able to provide some wind cover up top before the last furlong. He’s always a risk as to whether he’ll turn it on but if he wins he wins by 2 lengths. Classique the obvious danger, but there is value in this race if you’re keen for a punt; Bivouac is massively underrated at $14 having smashed Gytrash in the Newmarket and even though lightly raced Santa Ana Lane in the mid $20s is madness considering his ability.
For the Caulfield Cup it’s Master of Wine for me. He’s ready for the trip and has had the right preparation. Quality gelding. Danger is Veery Ellegant of course who best him in the Turnbull by a nose but I think the extra distance will suit Master of Wine this time around.
Best of luck.
