The Coronation Futurity Betting Preview and Free Pick – Sunday, November 1, 2020

The $250,000 Coronation Futurity will run as Race 8 on the Nov. 1 card at Woodbine.

The event for 2-year-olds will cover 1 1/8 miles on the all-weather track and include names like British Royalty, Threefiftyseven, Tio Magico, and Master Spy among the field of eight.

Here is a look at the top runners set for the Coronation Futurity.

Betting Preview: British Royalty, Threefiftyseven

One of the leading entrants coming into the race is Bruce Lunsford’s British Royalty. The English Channel gelding is trained by Barbara Minshall.

He has a career record of just 1-0-0 from one start and earnings of $47,104.

That one victory came on debut in an Oct. 11 maiden special weight race at Woodbine, where he registered an 83 Speed Figure.

British Royalty will break from Post 5 under jockey Jerome Lermyte.

He will be going up against Threefiftyseven, who is owned and trained by Barbara Minshall.

The gelding from Run Away and Hide is 1-2-1 from four career starts with earnings of $105,400.

Last time out, he took second in the Oct. 10 Cup and Saucer Stakes (Black Type) at Woodbine. He also scored a Sept. 7 maiden special weight race, finished second in another on Aug 9th, and fourth in another on July 12 at Woodbine.

Threefiftyseven will break from Post 6 under rider David Moran.

Betting Preview: Tio Magico, Master Spy

Another runner to pay attention to in the field is Sam-Son Farm’s Tio Magico. The Uncle Mo colt is trained by Gall Cox.

He is 1-0-0 from two career starts and has earnings of $46,752.

The colt is coming off an Oct. 4 maiden special weight victory at Woodbine, which followed a sixth-place finish in another on Sept. 7 at the track.

Tio Magico will break from Post 2 under Luis Contreras.

Also among the field will be Tracy Farmer’s Master Spy. The Silent Name colt is trained by Mark E. Casse.

He has a career record of 2-1-1 from four starts and earnings of $200,239.

His most recent performance was an Oct. 10 victory in the Cup and Saucer Stakes (Black Type) at Woodbine, where he registered an 84 Speed Figure. He also won a Sept. 13 maiden special weight race and finished second in the Aug. 2 Victoria Stakes. The latter resulted in a 91 Speed Figure.

Master Spy will break from Post 1 under Patrick Husbands.

The rest of the field (post, jockey) is set to include: One Flint (Post 3, E. Wilson), Giant Waters (Post 4, R. M. Hernandez), Flex (Post 7, S. Callaghan), and Stephen (Post 8, J. Stein).

Threefiftyseven looks really good coming into this race. According to his trainer, he is in perfect order. However, he will have to get past stablemate British Royalty.

One of Threefiftyseven’s advantages over British Royalty is that the latter has only raced in one outing. On the other hand, Threefiftyseven has finished on-the-board in all four of his career starts.
