Showboat Atlantic City to Get Water Park

This week the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority approved of plans by the Showboat Atlantic City to construct an indoor water park at its boardwalk casino resort.

The plans will let the casino‘s owner construct the facility if the CDRA approves of a retail district designation, which would provide tax incentives to the casino‘s owner. That designation is going to be debated and reviewed in the next few weeks. If approved, the developer will be able to claim a tax rebate of $2.5 million per year for 20 years.

The proposed park is a 103,000 square foot facility with a 30,000 square foot entertainment center. The plans are part of a larger plan to renovate the property, which, the owner believes, will draw in visitors year-round.

We’ll be following this story and updating readers as the process develops.
