  • Both teams followed up losses with wins on Friday night

Kyle Lowry could be back in the lineup when the Toronto Raptors visit the Indiana Pacers on Sunday afternoon. The star point guard missed the Raptors’ game against the Miami Heat on Friday night with an infection in his toe.

The Pacers are still trying to fill the void Victor Oladipo left when he was traded on January 14th. They picked up their first win since the trade last time out and will look to continue their winning ways on Sunday.

Toronto has won seven of the last ten meetings between the clubs including a 127-81 beatdown the last time they met last February. This time around the Pacers are favored by 1 point and there are plenty of player props to consider.

We won’t have any Raptors props until a decision on Lowry’s status is made so let’s look at the Pacer’s side of the ball for now.

It’s Malcolm Brogdon Time

In the wake of the Victor Oladipo trade, Malcolm Brogdon is the player that seems to benefit the most in terms of usage. He’s already matching a career high in usage rate at 25.2% this season and in the past three games without Oladipo, he’s up to 28.9%. He is making the most of his opportunity to say the least.

The Raptors could be at half strength today depending on the status of Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam. Generally that could be a situation to stay away from since it could lead to a blowout but in this case it may not. The Pacers are still trying to find their way without Oladipo and have only won one game since his departure. Brogdon’s minutes should be safe today whether Lowry and Siakam play or not.

Over the past three games only three teams have allowed a higher assist to field goal made rate than the Toronto Raptors. 67% of field goals made against them have been assisted which is actually down from their season mark of 68%. This should favor Brogdon today.

In his last four games, Brogdon is averaging 22.5 points per game. Only one time did he fail to score at least 23 points and that was in a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Given the current state of the Pacers, if this game stays close, Brogdon should score somewhere in the 20s with 30 point upside.

The Pick: Malcolm Brogdon Over 27.5 points + assists (-122)

Myles Turner Can Ball

Brogdon is not the only Pacer that has impressed recently. Myles Turner may have a broken bone in his hand but he didn’t let it stop him from going off last time out against Orlando. He showed that he could still handle the ball and shoot in his 22 point, nine rebound performance.

Only two teams in the NBA have a worse rebounding percentage this season than the Pacers at 47.9% but that is not on Turner. In his past three games he has averaged more than 10 boards per game. He is averaging almost 40 minutes per game in that stretch and if he plays anywhere near that total today, he should fly over his points plus rebounds total.

The Pick: Myles Turner Over 20.5 Points + Rebounds (-115)
