Patrick Cantlay fires 62 to take the lead at Pebble Beach

Cantlay ($11,300; 70.0 DKFP) caught fire on Thursday in the first round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, birdieing seven of his first eight holes en route to a 10-under 62. Cantlay, who was incredibly popular in the $800K Flop Shot contest with 27.9% ownership, finished the day with 10 birdies all told, heading into the clubhouse with a bogey-free round and two shots clear of Akshay Bhatia ($6,500; 55.0 DKFP) and Henrik Norlander ($8,700; 53.5 DKFP), who sit in a tie for second. In fact, the round tied the Pebble Beach course record. The DraftKings Sportsbook currently gives Cantlay +163 odds at capturing his fourth career title. — Kenny Ducey

Akshay Bhatia tied for second after first round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Bhatia ($6,500: 55.0 DKFP) is 19-years-old, playing in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on a sponsor’s exemption. His odds entering the weekend were astronomical. With youthful naivete, Bhatia shot a near-perfect round, going eight strokes below par, with eight birdies, no bogeys and a three-hole streak on 6, 7 and 8. The most impressive aspect of his day, though, was that he hit all 18 greens. Bhatia was the first golfer to accomplish that feat since Ryan Palmer back in 2008. His 8-under score has him tied for second behind leader Patrick Cantlay ($11,300: 70.0 DKFP), who shot an impressive 62 on Thursday. — Stan Son
