The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have revenge on their minds when they take on the Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Monday (Feb. 8th, 7pm ET). Duke beat Notre Dame on their home floor 75-65 back in December.
Notre Dame has really turned things around after beginning conference play 0-5 this season. They have now won four of their last six in ACC play and should be feeling confident going into the rematch with Duke.
Duke is having a down year by their standards — an afterthought in the ACC so far. They lost a heartbreaker to rival North Carolina 91-87 the last time they hit the hardwood.
This series has been absolutely dominated by the Blue Devils as they have won and covered each of the last seven meetings. The current odds are showing Duke as a 6.5-point favorite in this matchup.

Notre Dame Is Scoring
Over the last three games, the Fighting Irish are 22nd in the country in points per game with 81. That’s almost 10 points higher than their season average and it’s largely due to their shooting. The Fighting Irish have shot the lights out going 55.2% from the field in their last three contests. That hot shooting was easy to see in their loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday.

The Fighting Irish couldn’t seem to miss in the first half as they jumped out to a 50-35 advantage going into the break. They cooled off a bit in the second half but still finished the game at 59% from the field. Nate Laszewski was unconscious, pouring in 27 points on 11-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from long range.
Duke Can’t Defend
Since January 12th, the Blue Devils have won once in six games. They haven’t had much of an issue scoring, but stopping opponents is another story all together. The lack of defense ultimately cost them the game against North Carolina on Saturday.

Caleb Love went off for North Carolina, leading all scorers with 25 points on a very efficient 9-for-16 shooting night which included 4-for-5 from behind the arc. It wasn’t just Love that was efficient, it was the entire Tar Heel team. As a squad they managed to shoot 53% from the field, including 67% from deep. It was the second game in a row the Blue Devils allowed their opponent to shoot 50% better than 50% from three-point land.
Best Betting Angle
This one will likely come down to the three-point line and whether or not it can be defended. Duke had difficulty defending the perimeter in their last two games but the Fighting Irish present another level of competition. They currently rank 15th in the nation in three-point shooting, connecting on 38.7% of their attempts. Over their last three they are hitting at a 46.2% clip.
The Blue Devils haven’t been just bad at defending the perimeter, they’ve been downright awful. They currently rank 330 out of 357 schools allowing opponents to hit 38.4% of three balls. Over the past three games, that number has swelled to 44.9%.
This seems like the perfect time for Notre Dame to get another crack at Duke given their hot hand recently. The Irish are not much better than the Blue Devils at defending the perimeter, and given the pace both play at, this could turn into a track meet. Both teams are more than capable of scoring in the 80s and if they do, the game will go over the posted total.
The pick: Over 148 (-114)
