This looks a good opportunity for the William Haggas-trained SEA LA ROSA to get off the mark at the third time of asking now eased in grade. She’s shown plenty of promise in a couple of strong events at Wolverhampton thus far and should be able to utilise this easier opportunity to gain success.
There were plenty of positives to take out of Hugo Palmer’s GOOD SOUL on debut at Wolverhampton, having been slowly away before being denied a clear run at a crucial stage. With that all important experience under her belt, she’s not without a chance here.
Selections: SEA LA ROSA, GOOD SOUL
GLOBAL VISION will appreciate this ease in grade having shaped encouragingly in much stronger events beforehand. On a line through his latest performance, he can confirm his superiority over Highly Dancer and be able to make a much bigger impact at the finish in first-time cheekpieces.
K REX has been overlooked by the bookmakers in all of his three runs but has outrun his huge odds on each occasion, particularly when given an enterprising front-running ride to finish second in a class-4 event to a horse now rated 83-plus. A repeat performance down in grade ought to make him extremely tough to beat on handicap debut.
Selections: GLOBAL VISION, K REX
15.20 – Bombardier British Hopped Amber Beer Handicap – 7f
This is undoubtedly the trickiest puzzle on the card but GUNMETAL is down to a career-low handicap mark and his overall win ratio doesn’t testify his actual ability. His latest couple of fourth placed efforts at this track suggest he’s working his way back to form so he’s worth one more chance.
SEAS OF ELZAAM seeks a hat-trick of victories and although he needs another new career-best, he was impressive over course-and-distance last time and could prove up to the task from a 9Ib higher mark than last time.
Simon Crisford has his team in terrific form so the top-weight, FAST SPIN, has to be respected despite fluffing his lines at Wolverhampton last time. If able to bounce back to form, he’d certainly have to come into equation.
Selections: GUNMETAL, SEAS OF ELZAAM, FAST SPIN
INDIAN PURSUIT arrives at the top of his game having won two of his last three starts and is likely to be up with the pace here. He remains well-treated based on past exploits and holds leading claims in this weak event.
GLOBAL HUMOR did extremely well under the circumstances to finish second to Klopp over course-and-distance having technically run twice given what happened at the start of the race, whereas the winner had a penalty kick having been late into the stalls. From a 1Ib lower mark, he’s an each-way contender.
Selections: INDIAN PURSUIT, GLOBAL HUMOR
16.20 – Bombardier ‘March To Your Own Drum’ Handicap – 1m
VIVE LA DIFFERENCE isn’t the most reliable of individuals but he won over course-and-distance three days ago and should give another good account under his 5Ib penalty.
MOXY MARES hasn’t won since 2018 but he’s generally consistent and ran very well to finish second from a poor draw last time and needs consideration from the same mark.
Selections: VIVE LA DIFFERENCE, MOXY MARES
16.50 – Heed Your Hunch At Betway Handicap – 6f
GLEAMING ARCH could represent decent value if forgiven for his below-par effort over course-and-distance last time. He’s previously won and placed off higher marks at this track and he’s no forlorn hope to win this race under Paul Mulrennan. Whilst TYCHE can go well under excellent rider, Ben Robinson.
Selections: GLEAMING ARCH, TYCHE
