The Tigers came into the season as a top 10 team, but have not looked the part in any of their games. Georgia absolutely shutdown the Auburn offense in a 27-6 game, then last week the Tigers barely escaped an upset bid from Arkansas 30-28.
South Carolina did not have high expectations coming off a 4-8 season. The Gamecocks got their first win of the season handling Vanderbilt easily 41-7. The Commodores are the only non-ranked teams South Carolina has played so their schedule has not done them any favors in finding wins.
Tigers Offense Struggling
The Tigers offense was supposed to be a strong suit led by quarterback Bo Nix. Auburn is averaging under 22 points per game and only 328 yards of total offense. Disappointing for an offense that is usually one of the best in the country under coach Gus Malzahan.
Nix is 54-for-95 for 597 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. His favorite target has been Seth Williams who has caught 12 balls for 216 yards and two touchdowns.
Auburn’s defense has not allowed 30 points or more in their three games, but is giving up over 420 yards of total offense per game. Giving up over 300 yards of passing last week against Arkansas is concerning.
South Carolina Schedule Daunting
The reality of playing in the SEC is there are no easy wins, well besides Auburn. The Gamecocks are looking that right in the face as 5 of their 10 opponents will be ranked and they also have to play at LSU, Mississippi and Kentucky. A home game against Missouri might be their best chance at another win.
Quarterback Collin Hill has had a nice year for South Carolina. He has completed 69-of-110 passes for 698 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. Shi Smith has become his favorite target with 26 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns.
The Gamecocks defense has been surprisingly good. They have limited opponents to 330 yards of total offense 25 points per game.

Bo Nix is really good at home, but under .500 with seven interceptions in seven games on the road. This Gamecocks defensive unit will limit the Tigers offense as the disappointing season for Auburn continues.
