A strong Western Conference matchup is coming our way tonight when the Phoenix Suns hit the road to take on the New Orleans Pelicans.
Phoenix has been playing some beautiful basketball since acquiring Chris Paul in their offseason trade, and he has been instrumental in implementing winning culture into their team.
For the Pelicans, they have been one of the league’s biggest question marks this season and it is hard to tell the direction they are trending with their current roster.
There are some potential all-stars on both rosters tonight, and both team’s feature excellent offenses.
Regardless of their records, they are both trending in the right direction with their current makeup, so let’s break down the matchup and help you determine your best bets.
Phoenix Suns Betting Preview: A Cohesive Team, Anchored by CP3
Last season, Devin Booker was a majority of the Suns’ offense and had a decently high usage rate for his position.
After acquiring Chris Paul, the effect he had on this organization was felt immediately.
What Paul does is make every player better. Now, role players like Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson have elevated their play.
This gives the Suns a chance to rotate in lots of players who can score. On any given night, a new player could lead in scoring and that is their biggest strength.
The Pelicans don’t have a very good defense, though I do think Steven Adams will mitigate DeAndre Ayton.
That will be big, so the rest of their backcourt can focus on guarding Paul and Booker, though that is no easy task.
New Orleans Pelicans Betting Preview: Which Direction Are They Trending?
The Pelicans have experienced a head-scratching season so far. They went through significant change in the off season in hiring a new head coach and losing Jrue Holiday.
As it stands, this team currently sits out of the playoff race, but they are right on the fringe of making the play-in games that are slated between the regular and postseason.
It will be interesting to see whether or not they are trying to shoot for one of the ten spots, or if they are looking to use this season to evaluate what they have and ship away some players.
They certainly could trade some players with value and retool.
Against Phoenix, they are going to struggle to work against the Suns’ offense, though I find it hard-pressed that Brandon Ingram can be checked by anyone on Phoenix’s roster.
Suns @ Pelicans Betting Odds and Lines
Coming into this game, our friends over at MyBooke have the Phoenix Suns favored on the road against the New Orleans Pelicans by 3 points.
I don’t like what I have seen from the Pelicans this season, and I think they are going to struggle in this game.

I am going to roll with the Phoenix Suns in this game. There is a large enough sample size now to see that they are legit as a team.
New Orleans is too inconsistent to rely on them, even at home. Take the Suns and don’t look back.
