NBA Betting Preview: Charlotte Hornets vs. Orlando Magic – Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021

Our NBA season is in full swing and there are a number of things to keep track of due to postponements and contact tracing of teams.

Tonight, the Charlotte Hornets will be on the road to take on the Orlando Magic.

So far, both teams have been experiencing a bit of disappointment early on in the season.

While neither team was considered a finals contender, the two teams were expected to be in the running for the playoffs but they are on the outside looking in.

Both teams are fresh off a Friday night loss, so a bounce back game would be huge for either squad.

Let’s break this one down and help you determine your best bets.

Charlotte Hornets Betting Preview: Strong Guard Play and All-Star Hayward

Sure, the Hornets have been one of the more disappointing teams this year, but boy are they fun to watch.

The combination of Terry Rozier, Gordon Hayward and Devonte’ Graham is a nice trio, and they pair well with blossoming rookie LaMelo Ball.

One thing that needs to be solidified is their rotation with Ball and Graham. Usually, the two trade back and forth between who has the good game for the night.

The Magic’s defense is going to have to lock in on stopping Hayward who is having a massive bounceback season after leaving the Celtics in free agency.

It was a good decision for him financially and you can see the confidence growing in his game, averaging a nice 23-5-3 on around 50% shooting.

I like Hayward in this matchup to have a strong showing.

Orlando Magic Betting Preview: Any Hope Left for this Franchise?

It’s been about a decade since the Magic have experienced any sort of success in their franchise.

Their team is ravaged by injuries, and it started with losing Jonathan Isaac in the bubble and more recently losing Markelle Fultz to a torn ACL.

The focus of their entire offense is Nikola Vucevic, who is averaging a double-double with three assists and three 3-pointers made per game.

He is quietly one of the most talented players in the NBA, but without much help, this team will struggle to get anywhere.

Cole Anthony has shown promise as a rookie, and recently hit a game winning shot at the buzzer which was one of the lone bright spots of Orlando’s season.

Hornets @ Magic Betting Odds and Lines

Coming into this game, MyBookie has the Orlando Magic favored at a clip of -1.5

These teams are fairly evenly matched, and both could do well to get a win here to start some momentum in their season.

While I think these teams are evenly matched, I think the guard play of the Hornets will be enough to get them over the hump.

Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham and LaMelo Ball will be able to eat in this game, and I think that trio with whatever Gordon Hayward is giving will be too much for the Magic to handle.
