16.40 – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Apprentice Handicap – 6f
ELUSIVE TREAT returned a good winner over course-and-distance at the start of the year and the form looks even better now given the third placed horse Donny Marlow won last week. He was a good second when last sighted and has a good chance on today’s terms with his claimer taking off a useful 7Ib.
Despite carrying a double penalty, three-year-old NORTONTHORPE BOY has won five of his last six, including at this track earlier in the season. He did extremely well to beat a 90-rated individual last time out in a better race than this and may well follow-up again back in trip.
Selections: ELUSIVE TREAT, NORTONTHORPE BOY
17.15 – Unibet Extra Place Offers Every Day Handicap – 6f
JACKSTAR had been highly tried on numerous occasions and resumed winning ways in December 2019 from a 5Ib higher mark (79) in a class 4 event and the runner-up is now rated 82 to indicate he’s very well-handicapped in a race of this calibre.
The son of Dark Angel has finished thereabouts in trickier handicaps than this and his claims are supported by his close-up fourth here last time out, which came from a 1Ib higher mark. He will evidently find today’s ease in grade easier and, with loads of scope from a handicapping perspective, he’s fancied.
Of the rest, GREY GALLEON makes plenty of appeal from an each-way angle. He has been strong at the finish the last two times when reaching the frame at a similar level to suggest his turn might be near from an unchanged mark. ALBUM could gain compensation for his near-miss at Wolverhampton.
Selections: JACKSTAR, GREY GALLEON, ALBUM
17.45 – Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap – 1m
ILLUSTRATOR might have been let in lightly on handicap debut here from a mark of 78 on the back of a decisive win at Newcastle late last year. That was a minor event, but his yard is going well and he should have more to offer.
Richard Hannon’s’ BABAJAN produced a career-best when winning four-runner handicap at Newcastle last time out and should easily give another good account in his hat-trick bid now upped in grade.
Selections: ILLUSTRATOR, BABAJAN
18.15 – Unibet New Instant Roulette Handicap – 1m
An interesting event with marginal preference for PERFECT ROSE who makes his handicap debut from a fair mark. He has done little wrong in placing three times in this sphere including when behind two useful prospects last time out and should be tough to beat if Jack Mitchell can grab a decent position early doors.
ESPRESSO FREDDO thrives at this course and was an eye-catching fourth behind three horses rated 83 plus three weeks ago. He remains on a handy mark and shouldn’t be far away at a big price, granted a clear passage.
Selections: PERFECT FOCUS, ESPRESSO FREDDO
This doesn’t look the strongest of events and, with that in mind, there was plenty of encouragement to take from DIDTHEYLEAVEUOUTTO’s second in a jumpers’ bumper” here last time out. He lost his confidence over hurdles beforehand having fallen in three consecutive races, but travelled noticeably well here two weeks ago and will probably win this race with a repeat performance.
TOP FOX has hit the frame all three starts to date and is one for the shortlist with that experience to draw upon and Richard Kingscote booked to ride.
Selections: DIDTHEYLEAVEUOUTTO, TOP FOX
19.15 – Try Our New Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap – 1m2f
The form of LYDFORD’s dominant five-lengths success at Wolverhampton couldn’t have worked out any better which has been upheld several times, given the second, Madeeh, has won twice since and the fourth, Galahad Threepwood, bolted up from a mark of 79 when last in action. Roger Varian’s four-year-old has been raised 9Ib for that easy success but I’m confident he can overcome that rise and absence this evening.
