13.15 – greatbritishstallionshowcase.co.uk Novices’ Hurdle (GBB Race) – 2m3f
GALLYHILL was only workmanlike when justifying favouritism on hurdles debut last month, but the time he achieved that day was far from ordinary and, with improvement to come, the six-year-old is the one to beat.
Dan Skelton’s MIDNIGHT RIVER was good in bumpers and having won twice over hurdles, he ran well to finish fourth in a Grade 2 at Warwick last-time-out. He rates the main threat to the favourite and won’t go down without a fight in the opening leg of today’s horse racing tips.
Selections: GALLYHILL, MIDNIGHT RIVER
13.50 – Bateaux London Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) (GBB Race) – 2m7f
All of these can be considered given only 7Ib separates the six runners on official ratings.
FULL BACK arrives here seeking a hat-trick of wins having impressed the last two times in small-field affairs. This demands a career-best, but he’s going the right way and looks a solid option.
REMASTERED has done nothing wrong in winning both starts in this sphere and the soft/heavy ground will prove no impediment towards his chances.
Selections: FULL BACK, REMASTERED
14.25 – ‘My Oddsboost’ On Betfair Swinley Chase (Listed Limited Handicap) (GBB Race) – 2m7f
JERRYSBACK remains low-mileage for a nine-year-old and finished runner-up in pair of Grade 2s during 2018/19 including at this track under similar conditions. He’s finished a good third in two good handicaps here the last twice and holds outstanding claims from an unchanged mark with conditions to suit.
YALLTARI hails from a yard bang in-form and was an excellent fourth at this track last time. He should be thereabouts from a career-low mark, while Kim Bailey’s Grade 2 scorer NEWTIDE is another to consider in this wide-open event.
Selections: JERRYSBACK, NEWTIDE, YALLTARI
STOLEN SILVER looks the most interesting of these reverting back to hurdles on a good mark following creditable efforts in three starts over fences which have worked out well. He won a Grade 2 at Haydock around this time last year on heavy ground and a repeat performance here would see him heavily involved at the finish for team Twiston-Davies.
CHTI BALKO looks interesting for Donald McCain, who sends him on a long journey to contest this event. He will relish the deep-enough ground and looks sure to outrun his huge odds. Furthermore, William Kennedy has his only ride on the card.
Selections: STOLEN SILVER, CHTI BALKO
15.35 – Betfair Ascot Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) – 2m5f
DASHEL DRASHER is marginally the persuasive call in the penultimate leg of our horse racing tips, based on his rapidly-improving profile alongside his unbeaten record at this track (3-3) having gamely saw off good opposition from the front here last month, jumping boldly. This will be his first foray at the highest level but this gutsy eight-year-old deserves his place in the line-up and should be able to launch a bold bid.
MASTER TOMMYTUCKER beat him at Haydock albeit the firstly-named individual was making his return to action. Nevertheless, this ten-year-old impressed when winning a Grade 2 last-time-out and is a huge player on that evidence with a clear round under Daryl Jacob.
Selections: DASHEL DRASHER, MASTER TOMMYTUCKER
16.10 – Ascot Racecourse Supports Berkshire Vision Handicap Hurdle – 2m7f
The Alan King-trained LABEL DES OBEAUX looks well-handicapped on historical form having been rated as high as 153 over fences (successful from 148) and was a good sixth in the 2018 Scottish Grand National from a mark of 147. He’s been running over hurdles since, faring really well without being involved and his latest fourth at Haydock was sound effort and, from a 1Ib lower mark here, he looks good each-way value.
Of the remainder, J’AI FROID has quickly developed into a smart stayer and should give another good account on his hat-trick bid.
Selections: LABEL DES OBEAUX, J’AI FROID
