- Hamburg have scored first in three of their last four Bundesliga 2 games
- Fortuna Dusseldorf’s last three Bundesliga 2 away games have all featured over 2.5 goals
- Both teams scored in 22 of Hamburg’s 34 Bundesliga matches last season
Hamburg can reignite push for promotion
Hamburg missed out on the Bundesliga 2 playoff spot by a solitary point last season but can start the new campaign with maximum points against Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Dusseldorf themselves were relegated from the Bundesliga last season, winning a miserly six out of 34 league contests, and conceding 67 goals in the process.
They edged third-tier Ingolstadt last time out but Hamburg are a different proposition – they know this division well and only champions Arminia Biefeled (65) bettered their tally of 62 league goals scored last term.
As well as a home win, that could also point to a high-scoring affair at Volkparkstadion, where Hamburg lost only three times in the league last season and their home encounters featured an average of 3.18 goals per game last term. We therefore predict a 2-1 Hamburg success.
