DraftKings Sportsbook has signed an agreement that makes it the official sports betting partner of the Colorado Rockies. By this move, the sportsbook has ensured it will capitalize on the already booming Colorado sports betting industry. DraftKings will serve the Colorado Rockies as their sports betting and daily fantasy sports operator.
DraftKings-Colorado Rockies Deal
The DraftKings-Colorado Rockies agreement is just like any other sports betting deal around the US.
Under this particular deal, DraftKings will obtain in-stadium branding rights alongside rights to the Rockies trademarks and logos. The two entities will also develop a digital content series with Rockies’ players joining DraftKings programs as guests. The sports betting company also declared it would officially launch its sportsbook at Twin Rivers’ Mardi Gras in Black Hawk.
Matt Kalish, the sportsbook’s co-founder, said DraftKings is proud to expand its presence in Colorado with the way sports betting has evolved here so far. He said, “In the short span since inaugurating our mobile sportsbook app in Colorado this past May, residents have proven to be among our most engaged customers, making our deepened connection to the state through these collaborations all the more exciting.”
DraftKings Eyeing New Markets
DraftKings has been trying to enter new markets while enhancing its business operations with existing ones over the past years.
The operator joined BetMGM and FanDuel Sportsbook as the first licensed Tennessee sports betting companies. However, it may take some time to get Tennessee’s sports betting operations optimized. The Volunteer State is the only jurisdiction to require operators to hold a mandatory 10% of the money accepted in wagers.
On the other hand, operations in Colorado are going well.
Colorado Sports Betting to Start Soon
There could be no better timing for this deal as sports betting in Colorado is about to take off.
In its fourth month of operation, the Centennial State handle topped the $100 million threshold. That is an incredible number considering the absence of NFL betting, though some unexpected circumstances indeed assisted it. For instance, August was the first full month of sports betting since the virus caused the shut down of all US leagues since March.
With the NFL season having kicked off last month, Colorado residents and betting operators alike will both benefit from this new partnership and the sports betting industry is excited to be back on track.
