- Dominick Reyes vs Jiri Prochazka has been rescheduled for May 1st.
- Reyes is coming off back to back losses to Jon Jones and Jan Blachowicz in two title fights.
- Prochazka knocked out former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir in his UFC debut.
An important light heavyweight fight between former title challenger Dominick Reyes and former Rizin FF light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka has been rescheduled for a UFC event on May 1st.
The two were originally penciled to meet in the main event of UFC Vegas 20 on February 27th. However, that bout was called off after Reyes pulled out due to an undisclosed injury.
Now Reyes and Prochazka are getting booked to a new fight date which happens to be one week before UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz defends his title for the first time against UFC middleweight king Israel Adesanya at UFC 259.
Adesanya is currently the -265 betting favorite at online sportsbook SportsBetting.ag to beat Blachowicz but it remains to be seen if Adesanya stays at 205 pounds if he becomes double-champion. The winner of the Reyes vs Prochazka bout however, will become a key player in the division, regardless of who wins at UFC 259.

One year ago, Dominick Reyes fought in one of the closest title fights in UFC history when he challenged Jon Jones for the UFC light heavyweight title. Now he is looking to get back in the winning column after losing two consecutive bouts, both for the UFC light heavyweight title.
The best UFC betting sites had Reyes as a massive betting underdog against Jones but the challenger gave Bones the fight of his life at UFC 247. Although Jones won via scores of 49-46, 48-47, and 48-47, some people believed that Reyes was robbed in that bout. Six months later, the Devastator was given another opportunity to fight for the 205-pound title but he was knocked out by Jan Blachowicz in a lackluster effort at UFC 253.
The 31-year old Reyes had never lost a fight prior to his last two bouts. He entered the Jones bout with an undefeated 12-0 record with seven knockouts and two wins via submission. Now ranked 3rd in the latest UFC rankings, Reyes hopes to return to the winner’s circle and resume his title hunt. However, it won’t be an easy task as he is going up against a prolific knockout artist.

Former Rizin FF light heavyweight champion Prochazka had an auspicious UFC debut. The 28-year old Czech took his entertaining fighting style to the Octagon and knocked out cold former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir in the second round at UFC 251 last July 2020.
Prochazka has won 11 consecutive bouts, including the last nine by knockout. He has not lost since suffering a first round knockout loss to King Mo Lawal at the 2015 Rizin FF heavyweight Grand Prix final. “Denisa” avenged that loss when he stopped Lawal at Rizin 15 in April 2019 for the inaugural Rizin FF light heavyweight championship.
The Czech is a prolific knockout artist who has 24 knockouts in 27 total wins. However, his fan-friendly fighting style has also worked against him with all of his three loses coming by way of stoppage. Prochazka’s win over Oezdemir enabled him to debut at no. 5 in the UFC’s light heavyweight rankings. A win over Reyes will put him closer to title contention after just two UFC bouts.
