For the last two years, Lamont was in negotiations with both tribes over terms of a sports agreement that is betting. The tribes have exclusivity on all casino gaming under the current gaming compact with the state. The debate between the national federal government and tribes is focused around whether recreations wagering falls under that category.
The Mohegan Tribe decided to allow Connecticut Lottery operate recreations operations that are betting other parts of the state, paving the way for a deal to be made.
