Both Virginia Tech (8-1, 2-0) and Louisville (7-1, 2-0) come into the ACC matchup without a loss and undefeated in conference play. The 19th ranked Hokies are riding a four-game winning streak.
The Cardinals are on a three-game winning streak. Louisville had conference wins sandwiching a win over in-state rival Kentucky.
Virginia Tech Betting Preview
Virginia Tech is quietly having one of the best seasons of anyone in the country. Besides one really bad performance against Penn State, the Cardinals have victories over Villanova, Clemson and Miami.
Keve Aluma is having a first team All-Acc type season. He leads the Hokies in scoring (16.0), rebounds (6.7) and blocks (1.2). Aluma transferred from Wofford with coach Mike Young and he has picked up exactly where he left off.
Nahiem Alleyne (11.1), Tyrece Radford (10.8) and Jalen Cone (10.3) are all averaging double figures for Virginia Tech. Alleyne is shooting over 40% from behind the arc.
Radford has been really impressive, and if this Hokies team is going to make a run at the ACC title they need to get him more touches. He does a good job of getting to the free throw line and is shooting 57% from two-point range.
The Hokies are ranked 41st by Kenpom. Their offense is ranked 35th in efficiency and the defense is ranked 48th.
Louisville Betting Preview
Just like Virginia Tech, Louisville has had one real awful performance and it came against a Big Ten team. Wisconsin trounced the Cardinals by a final score of 85-48. The performance seemed to wake up Louisville who has reeled off three straight victories.
Carlik Jones leads the team in scoring (16.4) and assists (5.1). Jones is shooting 40% from behind the arc.
Jones has had a nice year, but freshman Jae’Lyn Withers is going to be a force in the ACC for years to come. Withers has been Louisville’s most efficient player and leads the team in rebounding at 6.9 per game. Withers is shooting 63.3% from inside the arc.
Dre Davis is also having an impressive freshman campaign. He has been really good on the boards and is shooting 66.7% from two-point range.
Kenpom has Louisville as the 24th ranked team in the nation. Their offense is 46th in efficiency and the defense is 21st.
Hokies/Cardinals Betting Lines

I do not think people are giving Virginia Tech and coach Young nearly enough credit. They have already beat a good Villanova team and are much improved from last year. The big question is how will they perform on the road as this is their first real road game.
Aluma is a matchup problem as he will to the freshman Withers to start. If he can get Withers in early foul trouble I like the Hokies to pull off the upset.
