USC Trojans Preview: Freshman putting USC basketball on the radar
The USC Trojans are looking to secure first place and win the PAC-12 regular season conference title in this contest. They hold a small 0.5 game lead over the UCLA Bruins with a 13-3 record and with only three games left in the regular season this is a must win match up for the Trojans. USC is coming off a bounce back win against the Oregon Ducks winning (72-58) at home.
Freshman phenom forward Evan Mobley is a diaper dandy as Dickie V likes to call them. He is a big time scorer and defender thanks to his size and athleticism. Earning multiple double doubles on the season and sporting an average of 16.8 points per game, 8.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks it’s easy to tell why this kid is going to be a top 3 pick in June’s draft.
Senior guard Tahj Eaddy has helped pick up the scoring, averaging 14.3 points per game. He is coming off a 24 point outing against the Ducks and has been playing well as of late shooting over 50% in three of his last four games. Mobley and Eaddy are the only two players that average over ten points per game for the Trojans.
USC dropped two spots to No. 19 in the AP top 25 in the most recent release and are ranked 13th in KenPom ratings. The Trojans on the season are averaging 75.7 points and are limiting opponents to 64.1 points.
Colorado Buffalo Preview: Creeping in on top 25
The Colorado Buffaloes head into this contest coming off a much needed win after a two game losing skid. The Buffaloes scraped out a narrow win over Oregon State (61-57). This is one of the better teams in the PAC-12 and currently sit 4th in conference standings at (11-6).
Colorado is led by Senior guard McKinley Wright IV who averages 14.5 points per game and 5.4 assists on the season. Mckinley has struggled as of late with production but made up for it scoring 21 points against the Beavers over the weekend. Senior forward Jeriah Horne has had a terrific season at 11.0 points per game on 50% shooting from the field.
The Buffaloes are ranked 20th in KenPoms college basketball ratings and received a couple votes in the AP top 25. Colorado is scoring on the season 73.5 points and are only allowing 63.0 points for 27th in the nation.
