13.00 – Novice Stakes – 5f

PELAKAI sets the standard here in leg one of our Catterick betting tips having done all of her racing since her debut success at a much more demanding level without disgracing herself. Mark Johnston’s filly will find this race much easier, so she should be able to put her battle-hardened experience to good use and stamp her class on this field here with ideal conditions.

Tim Easterby’s WREA GREEN ran a promising race to finish second on debut at Beverley and is sure to have learnt a lot. She’s expected to go well again here and is the most likely runner that will put up the most resistance to the favourite on these terms.

13.30 – Nursery – 5f

This looks very tight with marginal preference for Redcar winner MADRESELVA who opened her account three weeks ago following a string of consistent results beforehand. She’s back into nursery company here and shouldn’t be dismissed lightly.

John Quinn’s team are going well and his two-year-old filly VIRGINIA PLANE has posted some creditable efforts in defeat this year to suggest she’ll be winning soon. Her second two races ago behind Dark Illusion was a good effort, so she ought to play a leading role if replicating that performance here.

14.00 – Nursery – 7f

PAWS FOR THOUGHT has to be respected in his hat-trick bid despite an 11 lb hike in the weights. He’s likely to try and lead the field again here and can’t be discounted with a strong chance of him being handed a soft lead.

BLOWING WIND has steadily improved and lost nothing in defeat when second behind Paws For Thought. He does, however, have three lengths to turn around, but is better off at the weights and has a chance of doing so here.

14.30 – Handicap – 1m7f

This has the look of a poor event and it’s possible ATAILOF TWO CITIES will get off the mark being one of the least exposed. She ran well to finish third last time in a first-time visor which is retained here and is expected to appreciate the step up to two-miles. She’s taken to open her account.

Of the others, DUKE OF YORKSHIRE has been out of form for quite some time, but is a former course winner, handles deep ground and is 11 Ib below his last winning mark. If he can recapture his old form, he’s sure to be thereabouts with the stamina being his forte.

15.00 – Handicap – 5f

Not a lot to separate these sprinters, but the top-weight REBEL REDEMPTION arrives in fine form and was second off this mark on similar ground a few runs ago. He’s very well-treated here and shouldn’t be far away.

CONTINENTAL built on debut promise when third at Thirsk in June and now makes her handicap debut off a fair mark. She makes plenty of appeal with more to come at this level.

Finally, JILL ROSE ended a long losing run with an impressive win over C&D last time on heavy ground. She’s up 4Ib today but is expected to go well again now she’s finally got her head back in front.

15.30 – Handicap – 5f

This race looks between the two market leaders from a form perspective. HIGHLAND ACCLAIM has produced his two best performances this year over C&D, one of which was on similar ground when successful and he gets the narrow vote for top honours.

ROUND THE ISLAND won’t mind conditions and is more than capable of winning this based on some solid efforts this year. He’s finished second the last twice and can run in this race off just a 1 Ib higher mark.
