Wagering on March Madness is big business. Estimates are that Americans wagered more than $8.5 billion on the action, the last time the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament was held.
Beyond the straight bets on games such as moneylines, points spreads and totals, another popular way to bet on the NCAA Tournament is via March Madness 2021 prop bets. Much like the Super Bowl, there is a seemingly never-ending supply of prop wagers available on games, as well as on other aspects of the tourney.
Let’s look at a few NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament prop bets that might just be worth a play this season.
There are nine Big Ten schools in this year’s tournament. Both the Big 12 and the Atlantic Coast Conference landed seven schools in March Madness.
They are offering a prop bet on which conference will produce the NCAA Tournament champion at BetMGM Sportsbook in all states: NJ, CO, IN, PA, WV, VA, TN, MIT. Interestingly, all of the sportsbooks offering this prop have taken the Big Ten off the board, thus removing them from the equation.
The Big 12, home to top contenders such as:
- Oklahoma State
- Texas Tech, is the +100 betting choice
In second spot is the West Coast Conference, home to the Gonzaga Bulldogs, the +200 favorites to win March Madness. Brigham Young is the only other WCC squad in the tournament.
The Southeastern Conference, with six teams, including Alabama and Arkansas, is at +650. Bettors can access +1000 odds on the seven-team ACC.
At FanDuel, bettors who think a team will win its region but might not go all the way can place a Final Four wager.
DraftKings is offering a prop wager on which state will produce the 2021 NCAA men’s basketball champion.
Texas, home to top contenders such as South Region favorites Baylor, along with the Texas Longhorns, a three seed in the East and the second-seeded Houston Cougars in the Midwest, are the odds-on -134 favorites.
Washington state, home to tournament favorites Gonzaga, are the second betting choice at +250.
