Before The Masters, The Houston Open Odds Are Golf’s Betting Tournament

  • The PGA Tour heads to Houston for the aptly named Houston Open where Dustin Johnson is the betting favorite to win at +750.
  • This is the final tournament before the players head to the Masters, with names like Brooks Koepka (+2000), Hideki Matsuyama (+2000), and Tony Finau (+2000) all getting in some last-minute work.
  • Other notables in the field are Viktor Hovland (+2500), Sung-Jae Im (+2800), Jason Day (+4000), Jordan Spieth (+5000), and Sergio Garcia (+5000).

HOUSTON – With just one week before the PGA Tour heads to Augusta, the field takes a quick stop in the Lone Star State for the Houston Open.

The Houston Open presents a great opportunity for golfers to get in some competitive rounds before heading to the big one at the Masters. The field will take to the Memorial Park Municipal Golf Course, where Lanto Griffin is the current defending champion of the event.

While most of the top names are taking this week off, there is still some serious firepower in the field this weekend, like betting favorite Dustin Johnson.

Full odds for the event are now available via the major legal online sportsbooks.

Johnson is by far in the best form of anyone on the board, but bettors can still find great value throughout the field.

One notable name to avoid is Brooks Koepka, who is available currently for +2000. Bettors could fall into a trap of picking Koepka, who is able to dominate a tournament at any time.

However, as of late Koepka has been extremely inconsistent in his play since his win at the WGC St. Jude Invitational back in 2019. Notably, Koepka has finished outside the Top 40 in eight of his last 13 Tour events and has had multiple injury concerns.

On the other hand, a great value player for golf bettors is Scottie Scheffler, who is going for around +2200. The young 24-year-old has a wonderful year on the PGA Tour and enters this event with tons of confidence.

Scheffler finished in the Top 10 seven times last season and has finished in the Top 20 in six of his last nine events. He is also a Houston native, returning to play in his home town.

Other noteworthy entrants include Phil Mickelson (+8000) and Jordan Spieth (+5000). Ole Lefty won this event back in 2011 and would love to get his game in order before heading to the Masters, where he is a winner of three green jackets.

Meanwhile, Spieth is still looking for the spark in his game that has been absent for over two years now. Spieth’s last Tour win came at the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, and Spieth has been a model of inconsistency since.
