Okay MYbookie Australian Football betting faithful, with the final week of regular season action here and two teams already into the postseason, it’s time to take a look at the most intriguing matchups on the Round 18 docket, along with their AFL odds.
2020 AFL Odds and Picks for Round 17 for Sept. 18th-19th
St. Kilda Vs GWS
St. Kilda is in seventh place in the AFL standings with 36 points. The Saints have scored 1,077 points this season while allowing 967 points defensively. GWS is in 10th place in the standings with 32 points. The Giants have scored 977 points while allowing 971 points defensively.
St. Kilda has dropped three of their last four including a 65-50 loss against West Coast in Round 17. GWS has dropped two in a row including a 79-74 home loss against Melbourne in Round 17.
St. Kilda is struggling at the worst possible time, but I like the Saints to scratch out the narrow home win in their regular season finale, mostly because their playoff lives are on the line right now. St. Kilda has the better statistical team at both ends of the field and a ton of motivation to get the win. Again, I like the Saints to get it done as a -153 favorite, but this one has all the makings of a straight-up street brawl.
Pick: St. Kilda 71 GWS 66
Essendon Vs Melbourne
Essendon is in 13th place in the standings with 26 points. The Bombers have scored 889 points while allowing 1,117 points defensively. Melbourne is in ninth place in the AFL ladder with 32 points. The Demons have scored 995 pints while allowing 937 points defensively.
Essendon has lost three straight and four of their last five and comes into this regular season finale fresh off an embarrassing 79-29 loss against Port Adelaide in Round 17. Melbourne has split their last four games and comes into this affair off a hard-fought 79-74 road win against GWS in Round 17.
Melbourne needs a win in this affair combined with a loss by Western and a couple of other results to reach the playoffs. Essendon has nothing to play for and likely won’t show up in this matchup, much like they did in Round 17. Melbourne cashes in as a -217 favorite MYBookie AFL betting buffs.
Pick: Melbourne 72 Essendon 60
Brisbane Vs Carlton
Brisbane is in second place in the AFL ladder with 52 points. The Lions have scored 1,106 points while allowing 887 points defensively. Carlton is in 12th place in the standings with 28 points. The Blues have scored 956 points while allowing 1,000 points defensively. Brisbane has won five straight and comes into their regular season finale fresh off a 73-41 win over Sydney in Round 17 while Carlton has lost three of four including a 72-56 home loss against Adelaide in Round 17.
There’s no sense in beating around the bush with my pick on this Round 18 clash, seeing as how Brisbane is far superior to Carlton in every facet of the game and assuredly wants to hit the postseason on a positive note. This one could be over by the half as Brisbane cruises to victory as a huge -526 favorite.
Pick: Brisbane 77 Carlton 48
