2020 NFL Betting Analysis – Week 2 ATS Picks

It was a very interesting, albeit strange, opening week in the NFL. It is going to take a minute to get used to the empty stadiums and the weird looking after game interviews, but the quality of football was very good indeed. There was a concern that players might have a tough time adapting to life on the field without fans cheering them on, but that was not the case. It was instantly clear that a few teams are going to need some time to get up to speed after not playing any preseason games. There were also a few that came storming out of the gate and who already look to be in mid-season form. That said, we do need to remember that it is just one week. Things will begin to level out as we get deeper into the season. With that in mind, we are making picks for Week 2 so you can wager on their NFL odds. These are out ATS picks, but we will also have SU and O/U selections coming your way.

Week 2 Against the Spread Picks | 2020 NFL Betting

Green Bay Packers (-6) vs Detroit Lions

One of the biggest topics of discussion heading into Week 1 was about how Aaron Rodgers might perform given all that went down in Green Bay in the offseason. He did not take long to let everyone know that he is at the top of his game, torching the Minnesota Vikings and dropping 43 points. This week, it’s another divisional game for the Packers, who are at home to face the Detroit Lions, who are already banged up coming into Week 2. I am a little surprised that the spread here is just 6 points. The Lions have made a habit of covering versus the Packers, but they are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 overall.

San Francisco 49ers (-7) at New York Jets

Over the past few years, we have seen the team that loses the Super Bowl fail to make the playoffs the following season. That must now be in the head of 49ers fans after seeing their team lose to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. In fairness to the 49ers, the Cardinals look legit, so that loss is not as bad as it may appear at first glance. There are much bigger concerns in the Big Apple, as the Jets looked very poor in the opening week, plus they lost LeVeon Bell to injury in that loss. I think the 49ers bounce back in a big way on the road this weekend. They have covered in 6 of their last 9 games versus the Jets.

Buffalo Bills (-6) at Miami Dolphins

One of the divisions that we are going to be watching closely this season is the AFC East, as we might finally see someone take over from the Patriots now that Brady is gone. The Buffalo Bills, who looked very good in Week 1, look like the team most likely to make a push for that top spot. They will be on the road against a Miami Dolphins team that struggled mightily in Week 1. The idea was to allow rookie QB Tua Tagovailoa to learn from the sidelines, but if things continue in the same vein as the opening week, how soon before we see him? The Bills have covered in 4 of their last 6 versus Miami.
